Caesarean Section
Dr. Chris Gunnell is an obstetrician and gynaecologist who has been in private practice south of the river for over 20 years. He is the Head of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at St John of God, Murdoch and a Senior Clinical Lecturer in the School of Medicine at the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle. His love has always been for obstetrics and, in recent times, he has ceased the gynaecology side of his practice to focus on pregnancy and childbirth.
Prior to the pandemic, he regularly travelled to Africa and worked as a volunteer obstetrician in Ethiopia and Namibia. These trips provided him with unique experiences and an insight into the state of global women’s health.
Dr. Gunnell is particularly passionate about raising awareness of obstetric fistula. He gives talks and helps fundraise for charities such as the Hamlin Foundation who provide much needed support for the prevention and treatment of obstetric fistula.
